Meet Elizabeth from EF Creations...
I'm a married mom of two boys, who are 12 and nine. My husband and I have been married for 16 years, and together more than 20.Along with being a wife and mom, I am an emergency room nurse.
I started sewing within the last year. I asked for, and got, a sewing machine for Christmas last year for some simple at home projects, which turned into a passionate hobby of mine. I had no idea that I would fall in love with creating. For me, it's a relaxing hobby. In five years, I hope to be creating cute items that people can love and enjoy.
I'm very excited to be participating in my very first Avant-Garde Art & Craft Show.
Meet Emily from Mason Muggery..
We are Michael and Emily Mason. We are ceramic hobbyists. We have nine children, and a troubling amount of pets. Michael is a computer technician, and Emily is a stay at home mom.
We started learning how to do ceramics during the start of the pandemic. During the pandemic we binge watched “The Great Pottery Throw down.” Neither of us had tried pottery before beyond a bit of hand building in high school. We decided to give it a try! We bought a wheel and some clay, not really sure how it would go. It was quite a mess for a while, but with a lot of time, and YouTube, we got to making some really cool stuff!
We work together on some projects, matching mugs, or a pitcher/tumbler set for example. Michael throws the tumblers, and Emily throws the matching pitcher. We both really enjoy throwing, and it’s often hard to keep up with all the ideas we have. We both enjoy trying new techniques and tools. The more we create, the more we want to keep on creating!
We love that hand thrown pottery is a great example of how art can be functional and beautiful at the same time. We also like to tell our children that sometimes it’s okay to not know what you want to be when you grow up, and then discover your passion at age 36!
In five years, we would love to continue working on our craft, and hopefully grow as potters and artists. Emily would like to be a full time potter.
Meet Olivia Michal from KO Crafts...
My name is Olivia, and I do hand embroidery. I love to do custom work and join art shows! My grandmother, Karen, makes Kitchen Buddies. These Kitchen Buddies are super cute paper towel rolls that come with a wash cloth, hand towel, scrubby and of course, the paper towels. Now, I have been doing hand embroidery for four years. My grandmother has been making her Kitchen Buddies for around five years.
When I see how my customers react to their customer orders, it makes me want to continue creating. I love seeing how happy my creations make my customers, it is what inspires me to keep creating. I truly discovered my talent when I was teaching children how to do embroidery, that is when I realized I truly have a passion for it.
Usually, it takes me hours... or days to complete an embroidery hoop. I start with tracing my design on paper, and then fabric, and then sew. I love what I do, and I hope everyone can agree.
This is my third show, but I am so excited to be a part of another Avant-Garde Art & Craft Show!
